St.Nicholas' Summer Market 2026 Application

 

Galway City Council are inviting applications for trading licences for the St.Nicholas’ Summer Market 2026.  Successful applicants will trade in July and August from Wednesday to Friday (ie, 1st July to 28th August), 6am to 6pm. 

Before beginning your application, it is strongly recommended that you review the 2011 Casual Trading Bye Laws.  These bye laws govern the assessment of applications, issuing of licences, and set out the guidelines for all trading at markets in Galway City that successful applicants will be required to adhere to.

To support applicants, there will be an online information session on Thursday 30th April at 2pm.  To register for the information session, email environment@galwaycity.ie

Please note the below key points:

  • The closing date for fully completed application forms is: 4:00pm Thursday, 14th May 2026.
  • Late applications will not be accepted under any circumstances.
  • All questions must be answered in full, and all required documentation must be uploaded.  Incomplete applications, or incorrect documentation will lead to your application being deemed ineligible.
  • Providing additional information via email, letter, or phone call will not be accepted.  Only the contents of your application will be deemed eligible for assessment.
  • Payment for licences is fixed, as per the bye laws, at €65 per metre.  If your application is successful, payment is required before you are allowed to trade.
  • The acceptance of an application by Galway City Council does not guarantee the granting of a licence.  Do not attempt to pay for a licence prior to being formally notified by Galway City Council that your application has been successful.
  • If your Application is successful it may be necessary to share your information with other statutory bodies e.g. Revenue, An Gardaí Síochana, Department of Social Welfare
  • This Application Form and supporting documentation as submitted by you is subject to the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2014.  Your data will be stored and processed in line with Galway City Council’s Data Protection Guidelines under GDPR.
